Fashion Reboot: Priscavera’s Atlantic City Escape

In the continuous cycle of fashion weeks, taking a break to reassess can be a challenging decision, yet it’s precisely what Prisca Vera Franchetti, the founder of Priscavera, opted for during the fall 2024 season. Rather than sticking to a Manhattan venue, she chose Atlantic City as the backdrop for her latest collection photoshoot, a decision seemingly fitting given the numerous ‘closed-until-further-notice’ signs dotting the city’s landscape. Contrary to the city’s decline, Priscavera’s deliberate hiatus from the frenetic fashion scene proved fruitful, affording the designer an opportunity to infuse more purpose into her designs.

Franchetti remarked, ‘We’re predominantly recognized for offering sexy, flirtatious dresses aimed at a younger clientele. However, I’m currently conceptualizing the collection more as a complete wardrobe rather than solely catering to nighttime outings.’ This shift was evident from the outset, as the first ensemble bore a striking resemblance to last season’s opener. Yet, instead of relying on printed fabric, Franchetti reimagined the look in solid beige hues, featuring sumptuous textures and refined styling updates. Her trademark graphic tank tops and sandals made way for coordinated shirts and sophisticated boots to command attention. ‘This season, my goal was to curate a versatile wardrobe that transcends the binary of dressy versus casual, offering options for every mood, whether it’s exuding polish or embracing a laid-back vibe,’ Franchetti explained.

However, Franchetti remained mindful of her core customer base. She continued to cater to the bold individuals who seek her signature daring style. Micro minis were aplenty, now available in an array of mood-capturing colors and fabrics. Her signature peek-a-boo pieces underwent a transformation, elevated by luxurious fabrics that warrant investment. Franchetti also explored longer lengths, presenting a ruffle-trimmed midi skirt in a subtly sheer fabric and a refined pencil skirt featuring a high slit and lace-up detailing. The collection as a whole showcased a gradual evolution while still staying true to the brand’s essence. Straddling the line between reinvention and maintaining authenticity can be daunting, yet Franchetti executed it effortlessly.
